The Community Foundation of West Texas
The Center for Global Understanding’s purpose is to foster an understanding of different cultures while building relationships with and among the peoples of the world.
In support of our mission and purpose, the Center has partnered with the Community Foundation of West Texas to create a fund that will promote the development and implementation of regional K-12 Study Abroad and exchange programs designed to enrich student education of cultural awareness, language, and art.
Anyone interested in supporting this initiative can donate at www.cfwtx.org/givetocgu. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

South Plains College
The Center was honored to sponsor and attend South Plains College’s 21st annual Scholarship Gala to raise money for student scholarships. In 2015, the Center established the Jay Harris Memorial Endowment with SPC to provide scholarships for rural high school students pursuing dual credit course work in history, geography, and political science. In addition, the Center was able to make an additional $10,000 contribution towards the endowment at this year’s gala. South Plains College will begin awarding scholarships from the endowment in the Fall of 2019.
Educational studies have shown that high school students who are able to obtain dual credit are more likely to pursue post-secondary education. The Center is proud of its partnership with SPC to provide these resources. We are actively pursuing additional funding for the endowment that will ensure it’s longevity for continuous impact on the lives of students for years to come.
Anyone interested in supporting the Jay Harris Memorial Endowment can contact the Center by phone at 806.535.4245 or via email at email@example.com.
